This is a very important law, and the government cannot directly oppose the initiative of 50,000 citizens, especially since this initiative clearly stems from the theses voiced by the government.
This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the government session today, January 9, during the discussion of the draft RA law "On the initiation of the accession process of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union".
In turn, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.
"No one prevents us from continuously bringing our legislation, the standards in our various fields closer to the norms set by the European Union, so that whenever the moment of the referendum comes, if such a decision is made by the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, we can more easily and quickly go through that process," he said. and to the queues of RA citizens at the embassies of EU countries, noting:
"Of course, we continuously work with our partners, but sometimes we face problems related to technical human resources.
For example, I don't know, Embassy X says: we have a consul and that's what we planned, but we have already written to the capital to add another position, the MFA of the capital says: we are not against either, but we have written to our Ministry of Finance, and that's where we run out of options."
Pashinyan joked. "We understand that not only our government works like that, but all the governments of the world."
Mirzoyan continued. "We barely get along with our Ministry of Finance, and it is not always possible to get along so smoothly and at once, but we are working in that direction and the European Union is also aware of the problem."
