The US supports a peaceful political transition and the formation of an inclusive government in Syria. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated this in a conversation with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.
"The Secretary of State reaffirmed US support for a peaceful political transition to an inclusive, representative and accountable Syrian leadership," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said after the conversation on Monday.
"He emphasized the common role of the international community for all parties in Syria to respect the rights and fundamental freedoms of all Syrians, including members of minorities," the document states.
As noted in the publication, the Secretary of State also noted the need for the international community to facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid to Syria. He also thanked the government of Saudi Arabia for providing assistance to the people of Syria.
