Syrian authorities will discuss treatment of LGBT people, alcohol and women's dress code

In 2025, the leader of the new Syrian authorities, Ahmed al-Sharaa, will discuss with his supporters the status of LGBT people, women's dress code and the possibility of drinking alcohol. This was announced by the representative of the political committee of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group that seized power in the republic.

He made this statement in the context of discussing the priority issues of the Syrian transitional government, The Wall Street Journal notes. According to Khaled, "we have to wait for the elections for now".

"Different people have different cultures. Syria has a Syrian identity and most of its population is Muslim," he said.

At the end of November, the armed opposition groups launched a large-scale attack against the positions of the Syrian army. On December 8, they entered Damascus, Bashar al-Assad resigned as the president of Syria and left the country.
