French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the new composition of the government in a meeting with Prime Minister Francois Bayrou. Key positions were retained by the representatives of the previous cabinet, and the final list was published by the general secretary of the Elysée Palace, Alexis Kohler, TASS reports.
Jean-Noël Baro, who became Foreign Minister in September 2024, will continue to lead the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sebastien Lecorne will also remain the Minister of Defense, and the Ministry of the Interior will continue to be headed by Bruno Retayo.
As reported by BFMTV, after his appointment Bairu first met with Retayo, but initially considered the possibility of replacing Lecorneux and Baro. However, matters of diplomacy and defense have traditionally remained under the president's control, and Macron has decided to maintain the existing composition in these key areas.
