Previously, in a report prepared for the American Congress, the United States Department of Defense noted that China had more than 600 nuclear warheads by mid-2024, and their number will exceed a thousand by 2030.
According to the Pentagon, China is actively expanding its nuclear forces amid intensifying strategic competition with the United States and other countries. It is emphasized that Washington intends to maintain open channels of communication with Beijing so that the rivalry between the two countries does not escalate into a military conflict.
"We express our strong displeasure and strong protest regarding this issue," he said.
