The last execution of 2024 in the USA took place in Oklahoma on Thursday morning, NBC News reports.

Oklahoma carried out the last US execution of 2024 on Thursday morning, executing a former grocery store employee convicted of murdering a 10-year-old girl in 2006.

According to the TV channel, a 45-year-old man was executed by lethal injection on his birthday. The Oklahoma Board of Pardons and Paroles previously denied his request for clemency.

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that the authorities of the US state of Indiana carried out the death penalty for the first time in 15 years. State authorities said they were able to obtain the drug pentobarbital for execution in 2024.
