The South Korean president did not appear for police questioning

South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol, whose powers were suspended as a result of impeachment in parliament, did not show up for the questioning of high-ranking officials by the anti-corruption investigation department in the riot case.

This is reported by Yonhap agency. Yoon Seok Yeol was supposed to arrive at the government complex in Gwachon at 10:00 a.m. local time.

In the past, the Joint Investigation Team, through its representatives, tried to submit interrogation notices to the President's office and his residence, and to send their request by mail.

The presidential secretariat and the security service refused to receive them, stating that it is not within their powers.

Oh Dong-woong, head of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department, said Tuesday that the notices were not issued intentionally and that law enforcement would act in accordance with the law.

The department was discussing whether in this situation it is possible to request an arrest warrant for the president.
