British-born New Zealand actor David Witherly passed away at the age of 85, writes The New Zealand Herald newspaper.

The information about the actor's death was confirmed by his family. It is clarified that the funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 19.

David Witherly is best known for his role as Barleyman Butterbury in The Lord of the Rings. in the movie "The Fellowship of the Ring".

She also played roles in Xena. in the TV series "Warrior Princess" and "The Amazing Journeys of Hercules".
