Willingness to tolerate Aliyev's contempt for the US has become decisive in the Biden era. Ruby

American political analyst Michael Rubin in his article "Blinken, an example of not engaging in diplomacy" sharply criticized the diplomatic abilities of the current US President Joe Biden's administration, citing the relationship between Washington and Baku as an example.

"In December 2020, just one month after the end of the first phase of the seizure of Nagorno Karabakh by President Ilham Aliyev, the high-ranking US diplomat on the crisis, Andrew Schoffer, visited Yerevan and Baku. Aliyev humiliated Shofer on live TV, boasting that Azerbaijan's military power had achieved something that American diplomacy had failed to achieve, then asked him: "Why are you here?"

The analyst noted that although this episode should have influenced the approach of newly-appointed US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken towards Azerbaijan, alas, the readiness to tolerate Aliyev's contempt for the US has become decisive in the Biden era.

"The list of humiliations can be continued for a long time. When in June 2023, Azerbaijani snipers targeted the US Agency for International Development's Pledge project, killing an Indian worker, Blinken and the head of USAID, Samantha Power, did not hide," the expert emphasized.

Michael Rubin also referred to the statement made by the Acting Assistant Secretary of State Yuri Kim in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, according to which "the USA will not tolerate any military attack by Azerbaijan".

"A few days later, Azerbaijan sent its drones and tanks to the region to erase the region's 1,700-year Christian history," recalls Michael Rubin, not forgetting to mention Washington's extremely weak response.

Power, whose rise to power stemmed from criticism of the cynicism and immorality of America's inaction in the fight against past genocide, responded by visiting Armenia to lay a wreath at the Genocide Memorial. However, instead of doing it honestly, he took a camera crew with him to document his visit," writes the analyst.
