Number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Ukraine has almost tripled since May.
"As of May 18-24, we had 742 COVID-19 hospitalizations per week. Last week, 1,991 people infected with coronavirus were hospitalized, almost 2 thousand people. The number of hospitalizations has almost tripled," Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said at a briefing on August 17, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He added that people in critical condition or in condition of moderate severity are hospitalized, as well as those who need oxygen therapy or resuscitation procedures.

As of mid-May, a total of just over 58,000 PCR tests were performed in Ukraine a week compared to 5-6 thousand tests in early April, the minister informed. Last week, 120,855 PCR tests were conducted in Ukraine.
