President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a phone conversation discussed some agreements to coordinate efforts to combat the coronavirus spread, the press service of the Ukrainian president reported on Wednesday evening.
“The interlocutors discussed the situation with the coronavirus spread in the world and the measures taken in both countries to ensure the protection of citizens. A number of practical arrangements have been made to coordinate efforts and cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey to combat the pandemic and its aftermath. The president of Turkey has promised to promptly consider requests of the Ukrainian party for the supply of respirators and protective suits,” reads the report.

In addition, President Zelensky thanked Turkey for its consistent support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea, and for its support for the Crimean Tatars.

The presidents welcomed the implementation of the agreements reached during their meeting on February 3 this year, including the construction of housing in Kherson and Henichesk for internally displaced persons (IDPs) form Crimea.

The parties separately discussed the situation that occurred for Ukrainian motor carriers on the Turkish-Bulgarian border due to an entry ban to Turkey. President Erdogan assured that the situation would be resolved in the near future.
