The United States is supporting Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its ability to withstand threats posed by emergency situations, U.S. Charge d'Affaires a.i. Kristina Kvien has said.
"We are supporting Ukraine's efforts to implement a deliberate, whole-of-government approach to emergency preparedness, and to maintain national-level momentum for resilience-related reforms," the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine quoted her as saying at a civil-military emergency preparedness workshop on Tuesday, February 11.

Kvien stressed that the Civil-Military Emergency Preparedness (CMEP) program is one of many bilateral activities carried out by the U.S. government to support Ukraine's efforts to enhance national resilience.

"As the recent coronavirus outbreak has shown us, I think, you never know what emergency might hit, and so that's why workshops like these are so important — because you always want to be prepared ahead of time, before the emergency actually arrives," the diplomat said.

Kvien said that as Ukraine's strategic partner, the United States will stand with Ukraine as it continues along its Euro-Atlantic path.
