Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has met with Iryna Kaminska, the mother of a murdered Ukrainian activist, a volunteer and a police lieutenant of the Kyiv special forces regiment, Amina Okuyeva, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry has reported on Facebook.
"Arsen Avakov has met with the mother of a murdered Ukrainian volunteer and a police lieutenant of the Kyiv special forces regiment, Amina Okuyeva. The meeting was held at Iryna Kaminska's request. With the permission of the investigator, the minister informed the injured party about the progress of the case," the report reads.

The ministry added that the information provided had convinced Kaminska that the investigation was working in the right direction.

"What I heard today assured me that the investigation is working in the right direction and that it will get tough with these people. All the perpetrators will be punished. As long as we remember our heroes, the country has a right to exist, ”she said.

On January 12, Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest of suspects in Okuyeva's murder and the attempted murder of her husband, Adam Osmayev. Avakov said it was a "group of killers who were reasonably suspected of a number of killings, including the killing of Okuyeva." According to Avakov, the DNA of a detainee matched the DNA on the weapon left at the crime scene.

Later, Head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko reported that the group consisted of seven people in total, some of whom were arrested on suspicion of two murders committed in September 2019. Klymenko added that one of the detained suspects in Okuyeva's murder had organized the crime.

Okuyeva was killed on October 30, 2017, when unidentified people near the village of Hlevakha, the Kyiv region, opened fire on the car in which she was traveling with her husband.
