The gas price for the Ukrainian population and business will not grow this winter due to the agreement on the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"The tariff for pumping Russian gas will be set not on bilateral negotiations, but on European rules... We will not be hostages of bilateral talks but will work according to the European civilized rules that operate in European countries," the prime minister wrote.

According to him, this means that for the Ukrainian business and citizens the gas price will not grow this winter.

"This allows us to reduce the figure in the payment bills for utility services and heating," the prime minister added.

As Ukrinform reported, a new agreement on the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine will be concluded for a term of five year. The agreement could be extended after 2024. Executive Director of Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko stated that Ukraine and Russia have to sign all the relevant agreements before December 29, 2019 in order to start transiting Russian gas through Ukraine's gas transmission system from January 1, 2020.
