President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, the president’s press service reported on Wednesday evening.
In particular, the leaders of the two countries discussed preparations for the Normandy format meeting.

“The President of Ukraine informed about the security situation in Donbas, noting the importance of the German position in support of our country. Angela Merkel has said she supports Ukraine’s efforts in establishing peace in Donbas, and welcomes the progress made in the issue of disengagement of forces and troops in Zolote,” reads the report.

The parties also discussed the prospects of disengagement near Petrovske - after seven days of ceasefire.

In addition, the parties discussed the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, in particular in connection with the trilateral consultations Ukraine-EU-Russia, which took place in Brussels on October 28.
