The General Assembly and Conference of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) will be held in Kyiv on September 16-18, 2020, and will be hosted by the Ukrinform National News Agency of Ukraine.
A respective decision was voted on and approved at this year's EANA General Assembly in Prague on Friday, September 20.

"Next year will be 25 years since Ukrinform became a member of the European Alliance of News Agencies. Why is it important for you to finally come to us? Over the past five years, Ukraine has paid lives for its European choice. We have a widespread saying that no matter if and when Ukraine becomes a member of the European Union, it is necessary to build a Europe in Ukraine. I invite you to this Europe, which is still outside the EU," Ukrinform Director General Oleksandr Kharchenko said at the EANA General Assembly in Prague on Friday.

EANA President and CEO of German news agency dpa Peter Kropsch, in turn, welcomed the decision of the EANA members to hold the General Assembly and Conference of the organization in Ukraine.

The EANA was founded in 1956 and currently unites more than 30 leading European news agencies. Ukrinform, which represents Ukraine at the Alliance, has been a member of the EANA since 1995.
