Oleksandr Tupytsky has been elected chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
A respective decision was made during a secret ballot on Tuesday, September 17, a well-informed source in the court told Ukrinform.

Thirteen judges voted for Tupytsky's candidacy.

Serhiy Holovaty was elected deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court.

Before that, judges of the Constitutional Court dismissed the former head of the court, Natalia Shaptala.

In 1993-2010, Tupytsky served as a judge of the Kuibyshevsky District Court of Donetsk, and in 2002-2009, he headed this court. Over this period, he was a member of the qualification and disciplinary commission of the bar of Donetsk region and a member of the council of judges of Donetsk region.

In 2010-2013, he was elected and worked as a judge in the Donetsk, Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk commercial courts of appeal. He also headed the Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk commercial courts of appeal.

Tupytsky was appointed a judge of the Constitutional Court by a presidential decree in May 2013. He was sworn in on May 15, 2013.

On March 15, 2018, at a special plenary session of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, he was elected deputy chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
