Компания Stratolaunch Systems провела в субботу на западе США первые летные испытания крупнейшего в мире самолета Stratolaunch.
Фото и видео полета опубликовали фотожурналисты Мэтт Хартман и Джек Бейер.
"Stratolaunch удалось совершить первый полет", - написал Хартман в своем Twitter.
Stratolaunch состоит из двух 72-метровых фюзеляжей, соединенных общим крылом длиной 117 м. Самолет оснащен шестью двигателями производства Pratt&Whitney. Масса составляет 250 т, с полной нагрузкой - около 590 т. Движение по взлетно-посадочной полосе обеспечивает 28-колесное шасси.
Компания Stratolaunch Systems, которой принадлежит самолет, не анонсировала испытания. На сайте и в Twitter компании нет пока сведений об этом полете, его скорости и высоте.
Stratolaunch создан как воздушная платформа для запуска ракет-носителей Pegasus XL, предназначенных для вывода спутников на орбиту.
