Венесуэла дала американским дипломатам 72 часа на то, чтобы покинуть страну. Об этом на своей странице в Twitter объявил глава венесуэльского МИД Хорхе Арреаса.

Он также опубликовал в своем микроблоге коммюнике о решении Боливарианской Республики прервать переговоры с США по созданию отделов, представляющих интересы стран на территории другого государства.

Ранее 12 марта сообщалось, что США отзовут всех дипломатов, которые еще остаются в Венесуэле, до конца недели. Часть сотрудников посольства в Каракасе уже покинули страну 27 января. Такое решение было принято для обеспечения безопасности дипломатов.

Ситуация в Венесуэле обострилась 23 января, когда после массовых протестов спикер парламента Хуан Гуайдо провозгласил себя временным президентом. США, большинство членов ЕС и латиноамериканских стран признали его легитимным главой государства. Россия и ряд других государств объявили о поддержке Николаса Мадуро.
