Турагентство Globehunters на основе данных Центров по контролю и профилактике заболеваний США (федеральное агентство, подчиненное американскому Минздраву) составило перечень стран, в которых водопроводная вода небезопасна или неприятна.
В список вошли 187 стран, в том числе Россия, и все бывшие республики СССР, кроме Эстонии. Отмечается, что присутствие в перечне не означает, что вода из-под крана на территории указанного государства грязная — она может просто не подходить для питья.
Безопасной признана водопроводная вода в США (кроме острова Гуам, одного из владений Соединенных Штатов), Канаде, Австралии, Чили, Японии, Южной Корее, Саудовской Аравии, Великобритании, Норвегии и большинстве стран Евросоюза.
Издание напоминает, что во всем мире, по данным Всемирной организации здравоохранения, от диареи, полученной из-за небезопасной воды, ежегодно умирают около 842 тысяч человек.
